Spain is to propose to EU the downgrading of Covid 19

There has been a call from Spain's Family Drs to downgrade Covid 19 to the same status as flu. The proposal is widely backed. Pedro Sanchez has said the Minister for Health is working on a proposal to the EU for the downgrading to flu. This comes on the back of 90% of the Spanish population now being vaccinated and having built up immunity against the virus.

Because they are part if the EU, so unable to make these decisions itself.
Thats one of the reasons Brexit happened as people were sick of the unelected EU making those decisions, often against the will of the people of some countries.

Fact.. why is it not correct?

The facts are that Spain simply cannot make that decision, hence why it is asking the EU.
Likewise the facts are also that whilst many different things drove brexit, statistically or so reported the main driving force was that people wanted the UK Government and UK courts to make decisions without EU interference.
I therefore really don't see your comment of same old lies as carrying any weight on this matter.

The EU countries all signed up to fight the pandemic as a group. The vaccines have been purchased centrally and likewise there is a huge budget which is being made available to each EU country to help with the cost of all the financial supports which have been put in place for the health services, individuals and businesses.

The EU was great for socially responsible legislation ie workers rights, paternity leave and health & safety but regrettably moved more to a federal system which left member states unable to pass enabling legislation
One reason why our shipbuilding industry went very rapidly downhill because of European tendering regulations and we were unable to compete with the likes of Spain and Germany who had invested in the shipbuilding and engineering industries of the last few decades

WTF is, Unelected EU? You might have been/still are naive enough to believe it but, it was a complete and utter lie designed to sway the unthinking. And do know what, it worked.

And here we go again. Please just reply to the post Bee made (which was reported a few weeks ago) and not turn it into a slanging EU match.

The WHO (not EU you will notice) have said it is too early to start treating this as endemic and has advised against it. It was also mooted before the number of cases in Spain rocketed up (over 150,000 yesterday if you're interested).
