Thank you, but if you read my reply you will see that I was referring to the new state pension, and not the basic state pension which related to men born before 6 April 1951 and women born before 6 April 1953.

So after a lttle further investigation turns out its [ £500 ] winter fuel allowance ....yipppeeee.......!!!!!!!!!

How come you still get it then, you've lived here forever

I think some people still have a UK address and don't tell the pension department they are living in spain, not suggesting this here though
I did read somewhere they are checking and clamping down on this and monies will be clawed back with interest from those dishonestly obtaining this and prosecutions might be pending
It is not happening at the moment with the mess the country is in , they are still attending to more important problems

As I said earlier, winter fuel payment. Be careful who you admit this to, you could get a nasty brown envelope some day!

All these stories about getting caught for this,that and the other! It’s a bit like telling people that if they WEE in the swimming pool,the water will turn green! We all know that’s rubbish. We brought our sky box to Spain and to our caravan for years and nobody ever said a word ( it costs us plenty so why shouldn’t we?)::As for the winter fuel and people checking, rubbish. There aren’t enough staff to do the jobs they are paid for without adding an extra burden of searching for dual home owners. Scaremongering! Some people are scared and conform with the rules…actually I should say Most people but not everyone. Each to their own.
