We’re in London staying with family and our heating is still coming off and on while the house is empty. It’s particularly cold here and in (NI) so vital to maintain a constant heat.

' This person' stated a few posts back that " I am a resident also lost my wf payment last year", , but it seems to been magically restored this year !!
I've forgotten what the rules are now for claiming WFA but I'm quite certain it applies for the property you actually live in permanently and not one you 'maintain'.

Irrelevant where you have houses, it's where you are domiciled that counts. If you are a Spanish resident, you cannot qualify for UK heating allowance, regardless of you having a property in the UK

So if the Spanish system offered a financial benefit to RESIDENTS ONLY for something, would YOU feel entitled to claim it, on the basis that YOU own and maintain a property in Spain?

We got money off the Spanish govt for trading our car in,
a couple of thousand I think did that twice. Also got some money to help with when mum wad in a care home, you had to be a resident and paying taxes for that, so yes.

I think you might be missing the point, Chrisdee. I'm assuming you were a Spanish redident at the time - otherwise it wouldn't (or shouldn't) have been offered to you.

I'm asking Mac3blade - who (from other posts) I don't believe is resident - if she would feel entitled to claim a residents-only benefit from the Spanish government on HER basis that she "owns and maintains a property" in Spain.

BNT: Judging by her earlier posts, think you’ll find Macblade’s position on that question would be ‘each to their own’.

I think you're probably right. Clearly fine to steal as long as you're not caught. As for all those benefit cheats...poor folk...just leave them be.....

Mac blade replying.

I’m laughing to myself as I’ve never been eligible to claim anything off the state. I do receive the state pension and things like the winter fuel allowance but other than that, I can’t recall ever claiming for anything. Once, when we had 2 daughters attending university in Scotland, my husband thought he might have been able to get a grant but after filling in all sorts of forms and disclosing all our personal information, we WERE SIMPLY told “ sorry “.
SO,the answer to your question would have to be a resounding NO.
