Postby avoncliffe » Sat Jun 12, 2021 6:53 am

Hi All

Stuck in UK but worried as I am hearing rumours that there are swatter close to our property just off Ave. del Aeropuerto.

Is there anyone out there how can say exactly what the situation is?

TIA

Do you not stay in contact with neighbours by email or phone maybe ask one of them if they can have a look round your property
I am in Quesada most days and will have a look from the roadside if you want to pm me

Thanks for the offers but we do have an alarm with a monitoring service.

I don't understand why if you have a second home you don't employ a maintenance company to come and check your property, its not expensive compared to what damage that can happen, also some insurance policies will not cover you if you have been away from your property for a certain time.

Yes I do have a maintenance company as well as the alarm service mentioned above.

This post is not directly about my property but the area in general.
As to beginning away, that is beyond our control until it is really safe to travel, which will not be soon judging by the rush for a plane to Alicante (Spain is on the amber list remember) I saw earlier in the week at a UK airport whilst waiting for an internal flight to work as an essential worker!

Think the squatters are actually on Airport road . The house garden is very overgrown so they know that no one is there. If you property looks well maintained hopefully you should be safe.

I would normally spend regular time in Spain so didn't have the need for a maintenance contract.
At the moment can't get out because of the pandemic.
I am one of those do called foreigners who come to Spain to enjoy the sun and spend my money helping the local Spanish economy William.

My neighbour rang me a couple of months ago to say my garden, small that it is, was looking very overgrown, I immediately contacted another friend who went and chopped it all back. So you are right, if a property looks well cared for they (the squatters) are unlikely to break in as they can be seen.
