TENS machine

TENS machine

Postby Benjy » Tue Mar 21, 2023 10:28 pm

Has anyone had experience (good or bad) with a tens machine? Do they help? Specifically with hip or knee pain. Thank you.

Helped my wife after she had a replacement knee. Only seemed to work whilst the machine was being used but didn't give lasting relief.

thanks marcliff, I’ve also heard that relief is only when being used. It might be worth a try though.

Try going to see a physio as the one I went to used them as part of the treatment. They also used EMS and acupuncture. Great way of finding out which works best for you. There are specific spots where you place the tens machine for maximum benefit so it’s also a good way of finding out exactly where to place the patches. Tens machines though are really cheap.
Try C & C Physio in Rojales.
They use 3 or 4 needles as part of their acupuncture treatment, but I found it much better going to a qualified acupuncturist (Wendy) who uses 40 needles in her sessions.and that gave long lasting pain relief.

I have used cbd oil for pain relief. I have arthritis in my knee and whilst it doesn't take away all the pain it certainly relieves it.
There is a place on the Los Montesinos industrial site, that sells it, the lady in there speaks English and is knowledgeable.

My wife uses a tens machine and it has helped her but it seems it will exercise muscles and stimulate nerves so will help more with mobility. For pain relief you really need to tackle the source of the problem.

Yes I still use mine from time to time. It works by drawing natural endorphins and pain killing to the affected area allowing the soft tissue to function again. Although the effects of the pain killing are temporary they enable you to undertake activities which strengthen the area. A sore knee prevents knee strengthening exercises. With the tens machine you can use it to then undertake the knee strengthing activities soon after usage. Eventually the knee gets stronger. I use it for my Achilles when it is sore also. As a stand-alone pain killer it is limited. But used in combination with physiotherapy it is an effective game changer.

My wife has sworn by her Tens machine for knee, hip and shoulder pain. I've used it too - it blocked pain from my arthritis while I used it, but I didn't expect it to eradicate it completely, but for muscle strains it's brilliant and definitely aids healing.

I wouldn't be without mine I suffer with sciatica and it's brilliant also use it for my knees because they're not great after 40yrs of twisting and turning on the pass in kitchens!
