Tests to enter Spain for travel by ferry Spain
Tests to enter Spain for travel by ferry Spain
by Toonlass » Fri May 07, 2021 3:12 pm
Hi
Has anyone travelled recently from Portsmouth to Santander recently? If so what test do you have and where?
I have a dilemma as the PCR test results take 24-48 hours yet I have to be in Spain Within 72 hours and have to travel to Portsmouth.
Has anyone got any experience and advise for me. I feel rather stressed out about it all now and really need to be home!
TIA

You should have enough time in 3 days (72hrs) to have the PCR test which normally has a result by email within 24hrs. Don't use a company that takes 48hrs turnaround time. I would get the test done near wherever you live which gives you enough time to get get your result while travelling to the ferry for the 24hr journey. There are now lots of country-wide companies doing the tests.

They do LAMP tests at Manchester airport and a number of other airports. Here is the link:
https://www.collinsongroup.com/en/covid ... -departure
It costs £89 at the moment, result in 90 minutes.

I’m at Santander ferry port now, checked in for today’s sailing to Portsmouth later this afternoon. I asked the Brittany Ferries check in desk what test is acceptable for entry back into Spain?
She said ‘only PCR tests are acceptable’, you cannot use a lamp or antigen test! I’ve no idea myself which is why I asked her, I’m assuming she would know as she deals with all the COVID paperwork every day.

Thank you for this info. I have just had my test and await the results tomorrow
Did you have to have a paper copy or was the email acceptable. I should imagine the latter would be better as no contact but we never know!
Safe journey

This is from the Open-EU app for entry to Spain:
"The test must be taken within 72 hours prior to arrival.
Accepted test: PCR, TMA or other molecular techniques.
Children aged 5 and under are exempted.
This certificate or supporting documentation must be the original, and it must be written in Spanish, English, German or French.
If it is not possible to obtain it in these languages, the certificate or supporting documentation must be accompanied by a translation into Spanish, carried out by an official body.
It can be presented in paper or electronic format"
