Not quite, Tontri, the OP's comment was not a neutral comment on the exchange rate. It was overtly and unnecessarily political and phrased in a way to provoke a reaction. She said:" It isn’t bad at all! I was wondering how all the posters who detest the Tory government and Boris feel now that their pound has strengthened and they have more money in their pockets. It will hopefully get better and better once our economy gets a chance to grow..." And there was a predictable reaction.

Whatever the merits of your point ( and you may well have a point) , please stop equating the "UK" to "England." At least for the time being the UK includes Scotland, Wales and NI. It is very irritating when people do this ( say "England" when they mean the UK) and it DOES matter that people remember the UK includes more than England. For the time being anyway.Steve4878 wrote:I cant understand alm these people who have made Spain there home going on about Brexit or the tories. You dont live in England anymore!!! You will still get your pension and health care and no matter how much you complain, you will get both so stop worrying. Yes you may have families living in the uk, yes they can vote etc, but you live here so leave it...
It's time to accept things are what they are, you cant change them and you live here.

Maybe I've just become numb to British politics but I didn't see it as anything to do with Brexit. It was more of a statement of fact in my eyes. I suppose to us who are UK residents we cannot comprehend how there would have been any other result as no-one in their right mind would have voted for Corbyn, leaver or remainer. I realise that expats will obviously have a different view so maybe the OP was unnecessarily political. Apologies if I've offended anyone, that wasn't my intention at all.

I'm certainly not offended Tontri ... Everyone sees the world from a different perspective...there are people who would say exactly the same about Johnson as you have just said about Corbyn or would say something unprintable about all of the politicians involved. There are many different world views, often sincerely held, and often completely irreconcilable. The problem on social media fora like this is that a political comment like the OP's is like a red rag and sets people off on one, which can get boring but at its worst degenerates into name calling or disparaging of others. So better avoided... Noone ever converted anyone to their point of view by calling them names...

You're so right Shiva!! I just don't understand why people get so uptight about such things, live and let live is my motto. That and enjoy the sunshine and just chill.

Don't you just love it when a member posts a controversial post, poses a controversial question and then just buggers off.

When I moved over it was Pesetas and when the change happened it was 1.66. My company pension is paid in pounds and I now get something like 1.17 on a good day so have lost quite a bit over the years. However I am a happy healthy person who is content with his life in Spain good and bad. Can we look forward to the new year and focus on what a good decision we made to make Spain our new home. A happy and healthy New year to all.
