The Food Co. Spain

The Food Co. Spain

Postby sawasdee » Fri Jan 17, 2020 1:16 pm

The Food Co. Spain (the new store that recently opened in Mazarron selling Tesco products, and imminently a second store in Mijas) have posted on their Facebook page that they are looking for suggestions of places to open additional stores, so if any folk in Quesada know of any good sites/buildings available and want to suggest them to the Food Co. here is the info

Their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/TheFoodCo.spain/ (to read the post)

Not sure if Quesada would be big enough but people do travel quite a way to go to Iceland. We already have a lot of supermarkets around which sell British goods but if anyone is desperate for another one then maybe the old Brico Todo complex which burnt down some years ago would be an ideal place. The one by the Quesada Market (Chinese shop) and the toy shop which doesn't seem to have any customers. Seems a shame to waste that property and I always thought a butchers, bakers, greengrocers (no candle makers) and coffee shop would fit in lovely by there.

Certainly big enough but the Eroski where the Quesada market now is closed down due to lack of custom. Maybe the rents are too high and only the special arrangements with the Chinese are making the Quesada Market viable.

It's not as if most of us do our weekly shop there, I'd say there isn't really a need for another Iceland type shop. If you want British foods go to Iceland in Torrevieja, it's hardly the other side of the World.

Get out of here, Mercadona cornflakes along with other own brands are awful. Must admit, you can get Kellogs in Mercadona and they are cheaper than Iceland. I have tried Spanish baked beans, never again, Heinz baked beans for me every time along with Oxo, Marmite, crumpets and other things. As for Spanish T-bags, well....... the less said the better.

Some of us would enjoy the choice.

And the bonus for you is, if we’re in there overpaying for our goods, you can enjoy a quieter Mercadona. A win, win, I’d say

I think you need to check the box sizes. The Iceland ones are rather larger.
Like Shreddies which are €3.76 in Gama and the Big shop and €5 in Iceland. However, the Iceland one is 675g compared to 375g.
However ,the thread wasn't about comparisons but whether anyone wants a Food.co around here.
If they do, then reply with a suggestion as to where (they can put it, not where they can stick it).

Oh, and Aldi corn flakes are just as good as Kellogs but would avoid Mercadona and Lidl own brand.
As my breakfast normally consists of a croissant and marmalade, I do use Iceland for the marmalade (difficult to find the bitter stuff with big bits in at the Spanish supermarkets) or Pick n Pay in Guardamar. I do get the croissants locally.

Thanks for posting this sawasdee

the only problem with this is the last line I doubt anyone on here knows of any viable store locations but for those of us who cannot drive it would be a nice addition in Quesada

There are so many supermarkets that sell british food if you desperately need it
Gama
Smart shop
Johnson
Iceland

Why is there a need for another one?
