This is the latest piece of information re the new regulations. We will have to wait until tomorrow presumably to see if it all went smoothly.

From Diario Informacion:

Alicante-Elche airport and Health Exterior have begun today to supervise tourists arriving in the province, or any traveller from countries with a strong incidence of covid -at this time and all those who send tourists to the Costa Blanca-, land with negative PCR test in covid , valid for 72 hours before starting their trip. Travellers who bring it and are positive are exposed to fines and must get one immediately, in addition to being quarantined . The entry into force of the Government order to require the control tests affected today the passengers of the 13 planes that landed from Brussels, Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Gothenburg,Copenhagen, Cologne, London, Maastricht and Bremen. The Generalitat has purchased 16,800 antigen tests that it has deployed at the airport to test passengers who cannot prove negative PCR. If they test positive, they will be isolated in a dependency until they catch a flight back. If the symptoms are serious they will be taken to the hospital. If the tourist lies in his declaration and after the test is positive for covid , a penalty classified as serious may be imposed, the amount of which ranges between 6,000 and 600,000 euros.

If someone is returning to Spain and is resident in Spain how can they put them on a flight back to wherever they departed from?

Those big fines will be for those trying to circumvent the system and, if entering with a false or non PCR, test positive.
If they knowingly enter whilst positive then the fines will be large but 600k seems a bit OTT, even for that newspaper.

Those who land with no PCR will probably get a fine but it won't be that high. I think anyone who tries to enter without one should be made to arrange their own flight back straight away. If they are Spanish residents then a fine and quarantine as the antigen tests are not as accurate as PCR tests. Or make them get a PCR (and pay for it) and quarantine until the results come back.

Apart from Diario Informacion, I haven't seen fines that high mentioned anywhere else and the others says fines of "up to" €6,000 which is exactly what the Minister of Foreign Affairs said the other day.

You obey the rules that apply in France. There are no extra requirements for driving to Spain.

I would say a few 000's gone astray. Shades of Dickens and Newgate Prison I think it was, or Hotel California even :)

I posted this in the other thread on this, but maybe people didn't see it, or even know how to answer, I will try again however..

What is the protocol for people coming 'From' a safe zone (at the moment at least), Rogeland in Norway, thru Schipol (in Amsterdam, there for 1 hour 15 mins). Obviously, it would be completely insane to have to stop in a hot zone for 3 days to take a test, all the while possibly infecting yourself while you are there....

No point in getting a test here in Norway, in a safe zone, because the hot zone, is in Holland!!

Fully expect to have to quarantine on my return, don't have a problem with that, but don't fancy a massive fine..

PCR stands for Polymerase Chain Reaction and in this context refers to a test used to detect presence of Covid-19. In other words to test if you have the virus or not.

More info on this type of test here: https://discoverysedge.mayo.edu/2020/03 ... -19-virus/
