This place is so quiet

I don’t know which Chinese you visited last night but can assure You we eat out regularly and have always been very satisfied with the standard of hygiene and safety that all the bars and restaurants are displaying.
We live here in Quesada and have seen how quiet it is this year but what would you expect if so many countries impose quarantine on the return and all the scaremongering by the media about Spain.?
The UK infection figures have increased dramatically over the weekend( as reported by the UK media) but as with the Spanish, is is because they are testing so many and many are asyomatic.
My family in the UK tell me life carries on as normal in UK , hardly any masks being worn , not much social distancing and bars and restaurants are rammed because of the 50% deals that the government have offered to get people out spending their money. So lots of people out and about in UK spreading infection but much safer in Spain because we have rules and laws and adhere to them
I know where I would rather be and I won’t be returning to UK anytime soon.
Happy in the sun.

You must have picked the only Chinese restaurant in this area that doesn't insist on hand washing or cleaning tables. We've been out for limited meals during this crisis and, yes, some places are very quiet whilst others seem normal except for the face mask thing. Every restaurant we've been to makes you wait before going in to ensure the distance is kept and tables are the correct distance apart. Tables, including the Chinese one we went to, are disinfected after every customer and chairs wiped down. Menus are only on a chalk board or phone app and place settings, table cloths (paper ones only) are thrown away after each customer.

Each restaurant we've been to insist on you using the gel before entering and you must wear the face mask until seated.
You must have been rather unlucky and should report that restaurant for breaking the restrictions. No buts about it.

However, not stipulating you wanted agua con gas is hardly the fault of the restaurant staff as they don't have crystal balls to guess your requirements.

The virus in this area, both cases and deaths, is very low. Only by sticking to the rules will this continue. I'm afraid that taking all precautions in UK and then expecting things to be different when you're on holiday is the way things won't improve. Plenty of places do takeaways and deliveries for food. Fair few supermarkets do home deliveries as well. And I'm sure you knew the rules on face masks and social distancing before you came over so it wouldn't really have been a surprise to find it happening when you arrived.

The lack of people should also have been expected. The fact your plane from Belfast was only 10% full should have prepared you. Many airlines have stopped flights along with ferries. People will have to self isolate for 14 days on return to UK so have stopped coming and wearing face masks everywhere on holiday is not exactly the type of holiday people really want. No buffets in all inclusive hotels, bars closed and restaurants closing early. Many places not even opening due to a lack of customers and several even closing their doors for good (even in Quesada which is an all year round town unlike La Mata has several places closed and up for sale or rent). All this has been reported on by social media, in local and national papers so my only surprise is that you were not expecting it.

It's the reason we have cancelled our September visit to Altea as we know it will not be the break we normally have.

Good posts from Sunworshipper and Marcliff.

I arrived on Tuesday last week, and on Saturday I took a stroll around Quesada. To be honest, the place was absolutely dead. Several restaurants have closed for good, and others seem to be on limited hours.

Sumo Wok in Benijofar were insisting on hand sanitiser being used, and all was as I'd expected. Same in all other places I've been to. Some places seem to have the sanitiser near the door. Others have the waiter on the door offering the sanitiser, and others come to your table and sanitise your hands. All tables have been cleaned before I've been seated.
Menus have either been laminated, or on an app, or on the doors.

La Mata on Saturday evening was quite busy...the likes of Valdes were pretty much full. Everyone walking along the front was wearing a mask. I actually found it quite pleasant to see people taking the situation seriously.

El Raso bars and restaurants were relatively busy, and Guardamar was quite busy yesterday evening.

So - my only real 'surprise' was how dead Quesada was on Saturday.

As for the rest...well - it's not your typical August, but who in the world would have expected it to be?

I'll be quarantined when I get back next week. Not a problem for me as I work from home and have no family around to tempt me onto a visit!

But...after 6 months or so stuck in the UK, I can say I'm more than happy to be back in Spain for a short time!

On Thursday, we went into the centre at lunchtime. Lots of places had people queuing outside waiting for a table. Even Chef Zhan had half a dozen tables occupied.

When we went back in the evening, the place was really quiet. No queues, just a couple waiting to be seated. Three tables occupied in Chef Zhan only.

Seems people will go into restaurants in the daytime as they are there for other things but aren't making the effort to do so at night. So saying, the number of deliveries at our gate (community) seems to be skyrocketing . Chinese, pizzas and Indian seeming to be the most popular but burger deliveries also up.

Get used to it. Whilst these measures continue to be foisted upon us, things will not get any better. Small businesses are slowly being financially suffocated. Even the WHO chief (who isn't even a doctor) says that even with a vaccine, life will not go back to normal. They're even linking covid to climate change now (maybe that's what the masks are really about to lower c02?). You can read about it here:

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/21/who-war ... demic.html

This pandemic, and the new rules are here to stay unless people wake up and challenge the madness. Ever heard about the frog in the pan of water being boiled to death? Well we're the frog.

It amazes me that this pandemic, and the measures carried out in response, all come from the statistics generated by a PCR test. This test CANNOT differentiate between Covid and a common cold. And that is a fact which is written on the test insert, as well as being stated by the inventor of it. Yet for some reason, it is still being used to test for covid, and the media is silent (along with the mass protests going on in cities around the world). Now why is that?

So in summary, we're using a next to useless test, which is generating the numbers, and the numbers are then used as justification for lock down and all these ridiculous rules we are being made to follow. There is more to this "pandemic" than meets the eye.

Doctors all over are talking about it (including the Spanish one on the video i posted) but no one including the media and politicians are talking about it.

I’m sorry, you’re spouting utter garbage
Please read
