We live here in Quesada and have seen how quiet it is this year but what would you expect if so many countries impose quarantine on the return and all the scaremongering by the media about Spain.?
The UK infection figures have increased dramatically over the weekend( as reported by the UK media) but as with the Spanish, is is because they are testing so many and many are asyomatic.
My family in the UK tell me life carries on as normal in UK , hardly any masks being worn , not much social distancing and bars and restaurants are rammed because of the 50% deals that the government have offered to get people out spending their money. So lots of people out and about in UK spreading infection but much safer in Spain because we have rules and laws and adhere to them
I know where I would rather be and I won’t be returning to UK anytime soon.

Next to the tobacco shop. Opposite the Olive Garden before it closed down.

I am sorry but do you not realise that we have a problem with Covid-19 and people are try to stay safe,if you arrived here expecting a holiday atmosphere with bright lights you must not have done your home work, the business are struggling to stay open and the local population are struggling to survive some have not worked since March that's why the take their own food to the beach.

Honestly why is anyone wondering why a tourist area is quiet in a pandemic. How many people can afford to come here only to do 2 weeks quarantine. Plus how many businesses are going to say, yeah go abroad don't worry about work we can cover you, oh and of course we will pay you for being off when you get back. Not to mention the countries putting a total ban on travel to Spain. The damage here was really done in July and August for our tourism industry, it remains to be seen now just how many restaurants and bars will be able to weather this and continue next year, because sadly this year is done and dusted and I don't expect to see any improvement in the short to mid term. Whilst this is a Quesada centric forum, if you go into Torrevieja it is just the same, very quiet.

The main reason I came out was to check out our house. The electric had gone off and all my food in the freezer was lost. I know I probably shouldn’t leave it on but that’s what I have done since buying here 19 odd years ago. I had so many flights booked and NEVER dreamt that we wouldn’t be travelling here. Anyway, these things happen and such is life.
I wasn’t exactly expecting to see things just as quiet as they are this week. I naturally expected fewer people to be about but never expected the enormous change. I’m glad we came and we are enjoying being here . You may feel safer here but we feel safe at home too. I have suffered from hot flushes for many years and still taking HRT but when I put a mask on, I melt. Steam rises! It’s most unpleasant so being able to go for a walk without a mask suits me and I never choose to go into crowded places if I can avoid them.
We had a swim in the pool after coming up from the beach early and it was perfect. We had the pool to ourselves and everything in the urbanisation was immaculate which is a credit to our president.
I still love this place and hope that the quarantine rules will be relaxed over the next few months as it would be wonderful to see more people visiting the way they were used to.

My son, daughter-in-law with my 2 over 20 year old grandchildren came last week and although they found everywhere quiet they are really enjoying themselves. All their favourite restaurants are open in Quesada and they have the community pool to themselves. They come every year and I think they’re enjoying this year better than ever. Can’t wait to get back ourselves. Sounds so peaceful

Oh it is peaceful. And if its peace and quiet you are wanting, next year when no business is left, it will be even more peaceful.
