This place is so quiet

nigelandkath said “How many people can afford to come here only to do 2 weeks quarantine“. Is it true then that if we fly over to Spain at the moment we would have to self-isolate for two weeks? Need to know as we have things to sort out and may need to extend our visit if we can’t go out in the first two weeks.

You misunderstood what the person was saying! The comment was pointed towards anyone coming from the UK must quarantine for 2 weeks when they return home. You do not have to quarantine here in Spain. Come on over and get your business attended to and relax and take it easy. Just be aware that evening activities may have changed and probably no entertainment at your favourite restaurant.
I notice some The high end restaurants busy at lunchtime. Perhaps some folk watch tv or read instead of going out at night!

You would have to self-isolate only on your return to the UK...

"If you are returning from Spain you will be required to self-isolate on your return to the UK"

"The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advise against all non-essential travel to Spain, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks in the country.

"On arrival, travellers entering Spain from the UK will not be required to self-isolate. However, they will be subject to the following three requirements:
  • Provide the Spanish Ministry of Health with mandatory contact information and any history of exposure to COVID-19 48 hours prior to travel
  • Temperature check
  • Undergo a visual health assessment

l really do not see the point of travelling for one week to isolate for two weeks !
with the addition of two airports and a plane with the possibility of catching or passing on.

Perhaps people are desperate to check their 2nd home , make it more secure and put things in place?

We did the 2 week self isolation, on the first day it started in July. We are back in Spain on Saturday for a week, so will have to do another 2 weeks. We are doing it as we have bought a villa.
On the plus side is that i have my own company and can take has much time off as i want. My wife can work from home, so we are ok. I must say though, self isolation is a lot worse than lockdown.

There’s the same chance of passing it on or catching just being in a supermarket
A plane or airport is no higher risk

Surely on a plane especially a full one is that you are seated in very close proximity. That's ok if you are surrounded by your own family but if you had two strangers sitting with you the chance of picking up droplets over a 2 hour period must be greater than if you were in a supermarket where your exposure to strangers is a lot less especially if you practice social distancing.
