It's all most definitely hit n miss
If you've got time get a new one if not you take a chance of being turned away.

UPDATE
attended our 8.30am and 8.50am appointments in Alicante today. We were seen in good time and we had the correct paperwork - details of appointment, EX23 form, passport and photocopy, proof of payment of fees, photo (we took small and a passport sized ones and they asked which was most recent and trimmed to size),copy of padron (still not sure they needed this as she barely glanced at it) and our original residencia cards.
The process really was simple and we were surprised at how many people turned up in groups who presumably had paid upwards of €50 each to be taken. In our opinion this really isn’t necessary. The staff who process the applications all speak sufficient English and as long as you have the correct documents, there is little to worry about.
Hope this helps!
Ps there is now a 10 week wait to collect the cards.

UPDATE
Checked LOTE website and our number was ready to go, expecting to wait 10 weeks but only took 5. Went to Alicante today and arrived at 9.50 and queued for and hour and 20 mins. Once in, took minutes.

Well done.
Our neighbours are going for their appointment next week and have a couple of questions.
Can you pay the 790 fee at any bank?
His appointment is 9:40 but his wife's is not until 2 pm. Is there any place close by for parking while they wait for over 4 hours?
TIA

Russ and claire wrote:Hi All. We have today managed to get an appointment in Alicante for next Friday to exchange our Residencia for TIEs. As we are doing this ourselves, we just want to double check about the padron. We have lived here since 2018 and not moved. The residencia cards show our current address and the latest date on our padrons is June 2020. Are we right in thinking that we don’t need to get current padrons to complete the TIE process?
How long did it take you to get the appointment? I have been trying for over 4wks, any tips ?
p.s. we are doing it ourselves too x

A friend of mine got one for me last night around 6pm for next week. She got quite a few appointments as she's helping others get their cards. I think it's a case of keep trying, trying, trying. Although speaking to the lawyer today she said they were issuing new dates on certain days say mon and Thurs (can't remember) but then they suddenly started issuing on more days. So keep trying.
