Tow Bar

Hi all

I'm looking to have a tow bar fitted onto my van.

Is there anywhere that does this?

I had my tow bar fitted at Feu Vert in Torrevieja. Once fitted you have 2 weeks to take the vehicle to an ITV station so that it can be added to your log book.

Tow bars have to have proper certification which in effect probably means buying from the vehicle manufacturer.

Not necessarily so. Mine isn't.

TowBars fitted by Feu Verte are accepted at the Torrevieja ITV station but you need to get them put on your papers first

Nope your wrong Darro I contacted Feuvert today and they do everything from start to finish all fully legal and above board. For me to go to a manufacturer would cost of fortune

I bought one for my suzuki jimny , the first car i bought in Spain, i ordered the tow bar from witters in the UK as it was a lot cheaper there
The only problem i had was getting it homogenised ,i did not lnow about this until i bought it, i had to contact them to send me the EU certificate required to get it legalised in spain and enable the ITV and registration done
It ended up a long drawn out process with extra costs involved that offset the savings
Now with brexit i imagine the process would be even more difficuly bureaucracy wise
I think its easier to look for a vehicle with one already fitted
Also the trailer i brought over from the UK was not legal to use here either
I ended up selling it to a farmer for a fraction it was worth ,he did give me a few bags of oranges and veg though as a part exchange

I had one fitted by Feu Verte they gave me the paperwork which I had to take with me to the ITV station for them to check and put it on the cars paperwork,

I had mine fitted by my manufacturers dealer. They gave me all the paperwork for homologation. I then made an appointment on line and told them the appointment was solely for the towbar. Papers completed, exam carried out and ITV Certificate issued and tow bar added to Ficha Technica.
