I have just looked at Transferwise .they charge £3,69 to transfer £1000 then £7,17 to transfer £2000.
Has anyone here used foreign currency direct. They have no fees if you use there normal transfer mode. That is the answer that they have just sent when I asked about there £15 fee.

This is about cash ATM withdrawals not transfers I transfer with TW all the time just trying to figure out whether I should move my banking from Sabadell to TW others have said DD work fine which leaves me with cash withdrawals the chart above is useful so seems 2 free withdrawals of €200 over €200 is +1.75% and over 2 withdrawals in 30 days is charged at 50c each

If you don't bank with ex Sabadell. There also going to charge you to use there machines.
The way I see it ..
If you live here . Have your pension paid directly into your Spanish bank account by the pension office if it is possible.

but the rate is not as good as Transferwise so the fee is hidden in the lower rate

Sabadell charge to use any machine other than theirs. They also have the quarterly service charge. My pensions are paid into Santander UK and I use TW to move funds to Sabadell as needed I’m just trying now to see if it’s better to cut Sabadell out of the equation completely. It’s been said elsewhere on this forum that Spanish banks are now charging for transfers from non EU banks now including UK banks but doesn’t apply to TW.
JPEG here seems to be clued up on TW but I guess I’ll need to just ask for a borderless acc from TransferWise and see how it works out

Jpeg is spot on. Used currency direct once after being advised no fee but the rate was a lot lower. I did challenge the situation and their response more or less confirmed the rate reduction covers their “premium service” They did eventually give me a better rate. Check the rates before transferring!!

We've just set up direct debits with TW and all is ok and found the exchange rate with them very good.
Atm as I'm aware 2 free withdrawals per month.

Hello ......,
From 02 April, the fee to send GBP to countries outside of the UK is changing.
We’re adding a 3.95 GBP fee on top of our usual fee.
We want to be very upfront about what this fee is paying for. It covers the cost for us to send your GBP outside the UK using the SWIFT payment network. This costs us more than transfers to GBP bank accounts in the UK
applies to all transfers.
