Travelling to Quesada

Been advised that as we no longer have a permanent residence in the UK and a property owner in Spain we come under exceptional circumstances and would be granted access.

awful situation
Not being funny, but try explaining that to the French/Spanish authorities. I doubt you will get anything other than told to turn around & go back where you came from & possibly a large fine or god forbid imprisonment. This isn't like the UK, the authorities are taking this awful situation very serious & are running out of patience with people unaware/trying to get through.
Just my view!!
Regards,
Dave.

You obviously like living dangerously... It would be interesting to hear what happens. Just be prepared to be turned back and/ or fined/ have a run in with the authorities ( which could jeopardise your eventual residency application), that could all happen. Indeed considerably more likely that, than being allowed to continue. But if you are determined to risk all that you must be desperate. Maybe you'll be lucky.

Oh... And just a small ( separate) point in case you haven't planned this thoroughly... Assuming you are given entry, If you arrive in April and then apply for residency with your main home being in Spain (which you are arguing to gain entry) you will be regarded as tax resident in Spain this calendar year. Which will mean capital gains tax will be payable on your house sale. Just be aware of that too...

Yes I've got that problem unless I can get back to the UK before May 7th, which is looking unlikely. I was planning on going back to the UK at the end of April and selling my house there over the summer and returning to Spain on October 5th to apply for residency before the transition ends. That way I would avoid CGT but now, coming back on October 5th will take me over 183 days so will be fiscally resident this year

The camper van people who holiday down the Costa Blanca coast have been unable to return home. Many different nationalities i.e Swedish, Dutch. UK, Irish so there must be some road blockage as you would expect those who can drive home like the Swedes and Dutch would have been able to go home.
