Some employers have already decided that those who are unvaccinated won't get full sick pay and therefore it's only a small step on from that for insurers to increase health insurance premiums.

I can see unvaccinated people losing all sorts of previously enjoyed freedoms.....but I agree, they should have the choice.

Anyone caught with false documents should be reported and dealt with by the full force of the law.
I know if I encounter anyone doing so, I would have no hesitation to report them to the police.

You can get figures any way you like. However, you are counting up the whole population and not those who have had covid which is the better way to do it. Don't think you can use the phrase "survived" if people haven't actually had it. After all, you could say I have survived Hepatitis A because I have been vaccinated for it but haven't actually had it which is a bit silly.

The "with" not "of" also gets bandied about by people trying to justify something or other.

If you care to look at the ONS updated pages, you will find that the daily cases are counted by including everyone who has died so, yes, they could include "with" and not of.

But, later when all the figures are collated, they only include those who have died of the virus on the death certificate part 1. Only those who have passed away from the virus or whose death was exacerbated by the virus will be included in the figures. Those whose death was caused by other factors but only had the virus listed on "contributory" causes, part 2, are not included.

ONS explains it as :
"The term 'due to' means the disease or condition was the underlying cause of death. 'Involving' or 'mentioned' means the disease or condition was recorded anywhere on the death certificate, either as the underlying cause of death or as a contributory factor."

The figure of 152,000 is the number "due to" and not "involving". The number of due to and involving is listed, on the weekly updated figures, as over 173,000. That means over 21,000 who have been listed on the daily deaths were involving but the 152,000 who form the ONS updated figures are due to covid.

Yet another phrase of "with" thought up by social media which gets bandied about without people actually looking into it.

In a previous life, I was a practice manager for a group of GP surgeries and an advisor to the Primary Care Trust (as was) and also worked with a chap called Dr David Shepherd who studied epidemiology in respect to Hepatitis and the effect of vaccinations. He instilled into me never to assume a person has died of a disease "due to" unless it was shown to be without doubt that the underlying condition that killed them was caused by the disease instead of simply being present. That's the way the ONS does it

And, as I live in Spain, I also listened to Dr Fernando Simon who heads up the task force here against Covid. He explained that Spain uses the same method as UK in counting those who died within 28 days of being positive. However, they then check all the death certificates for the "due to" covid reason which is why, each quarter, the numbers are changed to reflect this and is most often reduced to remove those who simply had the virus but it was not the contributory cause of death.

Employers are only legally required to provide SSP, which is much less.

All credible experts around the world agree that the vaccine is safe and any risk is very low. The benifit significantly outweighs the risk.

Some people just don't fancy taking that risk and its quite understandable, even if its rare its still a risk to the individual
