Virus Exposure

Virus Exposure

Postby Sage » Tue Sep 22, 2020 9:58 am

I just learnt from reading today's local newspaper that a UK restaurant that we had lunch in last Friday was closed on Saturday due to 6 of the staff testing positive for cv19.

Obviously we don't know if we have been exposed to the virus, nobody from the restaurant or Public Health England has contacted us. We are in the process of informing those we have met since Friday.

As the virus can take 7 days to show we have another 3 days to wait to see if we have been infected.

It shows how easy it can be to become exposed to the virus.

That must be very worrying for you - hope it goes well for you both.
The shocking aspect of your story is that you had to learn it from the local newspaper and today - 3 days after the restaurant was closed - no one has been in touch!

What a worry for you :( I think that's appalling that it has not been publicised asking people to self isolate if you were there. Not wanting to worry you further but on the WHO website it states it can be up to 14 days until symptoms show :(

We are not particularly worried about ourselves, we're healthy, fit, not overweight, don't smoke, dont suffer from diabetes or any other illness. Our main concern is the potential for mild panic amongst those people we have met since Friday.

There is a chance that the team of restaurant staff on duty Friday were not the team on Saturday who tested positive but we don't know.

In the uk i believe it's the job of the track and trace teams to contact those affected. The restaurant would only need to provide customer details of those dining and who are at risk.

I guess if nobody contacts us then we were not exposed to the virus.

Are bar and restaurant staff in Spain routinely tested for cv19 ?

There are 2 ways.
* Table bookings are made online where contact details are requested &/or
* Using the mobile track/trace app which registers you on arrival.

Good luck with that the test track and trace system is a shambles.

So what if we had been restaurant or bar here in Spain and this happened.?There is absolutely nothing in place like track and trace.
Establishments here do not take any customers details so we would not know of any problems .
Happy in the sun.

Every restaurant, coffee shop asks you to complete a contact form here.
The testing system is overloaded by people asking for a test when they have no real reason to require one. Of course the system is bound to be suffering as people are so scared and that is not what the idea was . The test and trace are having problems with people testing positive and refusing to self isolate. Others refuse to take the call. Others give incorrect telephone numbers. They are up against people with no conscience or honour. Blame people not the system.
