Walking/cycling routes

Postby mudguard » Sun Oct 03, 2021 8:48 am

Hi all,

Looking to explore when we’re over at the end of the month, is there an app that can show routes around Rojales/Quesada/La mata area? Or maps to study?

Thanks in advance
Chris

There are innumerable cycling routes all around the area. I'm not aware of a decent app that shows them all though. When I first started I used to put my destination in the Google Maps app and select the cycling mode. It worked most of the time and took me along along the various cycle paths, canals, river tracks, service roads, caminos etc rather than the main roads. Another option to get you started is a couple of booklets for sale in the Cyclogical shop which describe some of them, although inevitably with printed information it can sometimes get out of date.

There is an app, both free and or a small annual fee for more functionality, that show detailed routes for walking or cycling that you can use on your smartphone or sat nav. It is called Wikiloc, and covers the whole world. Here is the link to the Rojales routes.

If you sign up to the free version of the Strava app you are welcome to add me and you'll be able to see all my cycling routes in the area (starting and finishing in Quesada). We've been to La Mata today!
