I don't understand.
Why would you turn anything off except the lights, if only going away for 4 days?

Being as it's usually a 30 second job turning the water off would, IMO, be a sensible thing to do.
Nobody can predict when a leak might occur but we all know what sods law dictates!

Depends who's living next door, I would turn water electric off , some unscrupulous people will plug in extension or connect hose pipe and fill there pool , seen it done,

Definitely turn the water off. Check your meter regularly. In 5 years we have had 7 leaks costing us over €2000 in repairs and water charges. We were told that because of the extra visitors in the summer the water company increases the pressure resulting in pipes splitting and joints and fixtures failing especially in older properties. So beware.

Definitely turn water off, we do even if we are away overnight….it takes seconds to do it, if you have a leak while away…lots of clearing up

Always turn water off at the inlet to the meter, then if it leaks it’s their problem not yours.

I always turn ours off at the meter if we are going away for even a few days
I have had four leaks over the years , one flooded the bathroom and living room overnight while we were asleep, the hot water flexi hose had corroded and split and hot water from the gas boiler flooded both rooms , scalding hot water
Another time the same happened , the pipe split but just the bathroom flooded
Also had two leaks from the kitchen flexi hoses
I always suspected it was something to do with the pressure being increased, so i tend to turn it down at the meter slightly just incase the water company increase the pressure in the summer as mentioned
Have been lucky with the underground pipes though, none have split yet , i have probably just jinxed it !!!
