WHY?

While walking in the UK last week a bus passed with a sign, “masks must be worn on this bus”. Upstairs there were 6-8 people, none wearing masks.
A friend is a bus driver and he was told around a year ago (when masks on public transport were a legal requirement), not to challenge people who don’t wear masks.
A couple of months ago a local M & S stopped providing hand sanitiser or cleaning products for their trollies and baskets.
We are in Spain now and it feels safer here. I have already seen 2 people challenged for not wearing a mask in a shop, while mask wearing is optional in the shops in the UK.

We came back from the U.K. in September and from where I come from most people were wearing masks at busy places indoors. I don’t know about public transport because I don’t use it but restaurants were still distancing. I must admit no one seems to bother at airports anywhere but our plane was half full. The thing I object to when flying is although the plane load has to be spread evenly they still put 3 people together when I’m sure they could change that,

. This anomaly has been eloquently explained by marcliff earlier in this post.MichaelC wrote:The UK tests more than any other country in the world, that's why the figures are higher than elsewhere.

Yesterday the U.K. recorded 43,423 new cases of covid 19. This was the most recordings of ANY COUNTRY in the world including America and India. That is over 10% of reported cases WORLDWIDE. These figures are alarming.

Benjy wrote:Why are they allowing people in uk to travel? More importantly, why is Spain letting them in? Even before this, the U.K. has been averaging over 35,000 new cases daily for more than a month. Spain has struggled and is now down to under 2000 a day, looks like another lockdown Christmas.

Did you borrow that argument from the Daily Mail or the Daily Express?

P.s. Marcliff - you can get those goods here (e.g. Antidol paracetamol x 2 = 1g), Dettol in Johnson's, and good Deep Heat equivalents. Don't know about the pie - horrible things (sorry).

But weren’t all those tests done in the early days? There’s nothing to indicate the bulk of tests were recent
