Winter Duvets

The most efficient way to feel warm is warm the air directly by circulation, such as with a fan heater, or an air con heating the air. Indirect Convection is much less efficient.

I was over last November and December on my own doing some DIY work. Because I was on my own the bed was colder than normal and I'd expected to have to dig out the quilts. We also have some of these from Yorkshire Linen that snap together and they're great for being able to adjust to accommodate your needs.
However, I was quite surprised that I never actually used the quilts. I put the AC on in heating mode at a high temperature for about 20 minutes before going to bed then turned the AC down to around 23 degrees and put it on sleep mode.
During the summer we sleep with a lightweight quilted throw (also from Yorkshire Linen - go for the ones with a high cotton content as they're cooler in summer). In Nov/Dec I put another one of these on the bed and I was fine. I have a couple of wheat bags that I'd pop in the microwave for a couple of minutes and use them to warm-up my feet if I felt especially cold, but generally they weren't needed (I don't like wearing socks in bed).
The ceramic wall heaters are okay, but they don't have a thermostat built in to them. You can buy plug-in thermostats and We have a couple of these heaters in the bedroom on these plug-in thermostats, but I didn't use them last year. I totally agree that you also need the reflective film behind the heater for them to be of any use.
If I were you I'd go for using the aircon heating, as it's very efficient and I find it doesn't dry up my sinuses any more than the ceramic wall heaters. I'd also get a combo quilt that can be used in three different ways, and probably a quilted throw as well to add an extra layer if you need it.
Pete.

An electric blanket put on an hour before you go to bed will make a world of difference. Yorkshire Linen near the Habaneras shopping centre is closing down because the owner of that local is changing all the shops there to a Mercadona. The Yorkshire Linen shops elsewhere including Quesada are staying open

I think that it would be better to have two thicknesses of duvets. The lighter one for late autumn and early spring and the heavier one for the winter months.
