Wise - Cash Withdrawals

Wise - Cash Withdrawals

Postby BNT162b2 » Tue Apr 19, 2022 6:34 pm

Just wondered if anyone can advise on the cheapest cash withdrawal via an ATM with a Wise card?

Just tried a CaixaBank ATM, and was going g to be charged €7 to withdraw €200.

Santander ATM wanted to charge €5.

Anywhere cheaper?

If you mainly use your card to withdraw cash from ATMs in Spain you need to ask Wise to send a replacement card to your Spanish address. These are ATM charges not Wise charges and, since Brexit, €5-€7 is the norm for most UK registered bank cards - there are exceptions such as Santander who operate in both countries. I pay no ATM fees to withdraw cash from the BBVA in Rojales using my Spanish registered Wise card.

Deutsche Bank. I've used them with no charges previously. But you never know it might have changed?

Correct me if i am wrong but i believe the first 200 € a month is free to withdraw but after that Wise will charge you.

You always pay it into your Spanish account and draw it out with your Spanish card...,then it's free....

That presumes the OP has a Spanish bank A/C.

Wise charge a small fee once you exceed £200 equivalent per month (about €240 currently). I never pay the fees because I withdraw the maximum 'free' cash and then pay by card everywhere I can. However, the OP is asking about ATM fees which are charged by the bank, not Wise. ATM fees are normally charged when using cards from abroad, everywhere in the world, or another bank. Since Brexit, ATM fees in Spain for most UK registered cards seem to be around €5-€7 per transaction.

An alternative method : Find a friend who does have a Spanish bank account and send them the Euros from your Wise account and they then withdraw it for free from their account
