Which restaurant to go to for 51st wedding anniversary?

Postby prefect » Fri Oct 17, 2014 7:32 pm

On Nov 30 We celebrate our 51st wedding anniversary. Our family are joining us on the 29th to celebrate as they were unable to be with us on our 50th celebrations. We would like a nice clean modern restaurant with prices not requiring a second mortgage, as we intend footing the bill.
My wife prefers a meal at lunch time , so this limits the choice. Any restaurant within 30 mins of Torrevieja would be fine

Hi,
I guess you will have lots of suggestions but my choice for a special occasion, without breaking the bank, would be:
Portico Mar Restaurant, Guardamar

The price may be slightly more than some but definitely not as much as other places when you see what's included in the set menu. It's in a beautiful setting and the decor of the restaurant is quite breath-taking. Also a generous drink (usually a half carafe of wine per person) is included with the set meal which has loads of good choices!.

If you haven't been there it may be worth trying before you make a decision.

We have details of Paco's on here: Paco's Restaurant, near Rojales

Can't wait to try it one day, when we are next in Spain!

If you are paying the bill and you prefer lunch, why not tray the Budapest on Quesada. Better value than Portico, which for me has gone slightly downhill and a really lovely restaurant

Our neighbours, when they are in Spain, go to the Budapest nearly every lunchtime and they love it - They are Hungarian though but if the food is anything like The Bells or La Campana Hungarian restaurants, it must be good.

The Budapest is apparently more upmarket...or 'posh', as we say in my world LOL. We took our neighbours to The Bells once but, although they enjoyed the food, we think it was a bit 'cheap and cheerful' for them with no silver service!. However, we love both The Bells and Campana as they are great any night of the week but I suppose The Budapest is a bit more suited for a 'special occasion' for most people.

Here's the Budapest details:

I would not hesitate to recommend Catorce's in Benijofar facing the little park area by the town hall & police station. It is truly excellent & the staff are very attentive, ideal for a special occasion such as yours. It serves a MDD all day, 10€ including a drink.

Hi Jan what are the Budapest MDD prices do you know? I have got to agree The Bells AB Fab cheap as chips but top notch in my opinion, and if the weather is good to sit outside it's great. :D

I don't know but hopefully someone can tell us - I know the daily menu is cheaper at lunchtimes and they don't stop serving lunch until about 4 ish.
