Beware Quesada Quickfit

Postby canada » Wed Dec 13, 2023 5:45 pm

Hi everyone.

Just wanted to warn people if you are thinking of having your car serviced, please beware of Quesada Quickfit, ( Side street just at the Arches) Took my car there for a full service & ITV. They quoted me €230. After I left the car with them they called to tell me the rear brake pads were low and the rear number plate was faded and all would need replacing for the ITV, for an extra €170.
I was concerned about the ITV so I agreed to proceed. Upon payment they tell you if you do not pay in cash there is an extra 21% added to the bill. The bill €230 for the service & ITV was fine. As for the brakes, I should of researched sooner ( my fault ) but I found that the brake pads actually cost around €20 to buy, and that's not trade price. They charged me €150 fitted CASH. The number plate €20, I don't know if that is good or not. I also found out that my car was taken & passed the ITV before the brake pads were changed. So it wasn't really necessary. The number plate I don't know but my suspicion is that would have been ok to. I also called the local main dealer of the make for my car for a quote for rear brake replacement. They quoted including labour and IVA €112. The boss unfazed with my dissatisfaction & only offered to remove the new pads. As the old ones had been thrown out that was pathetic. I know everyone needs to make a living but I feel this was a rip-off. I just hope I can warn other people so it doesn't happen to them. If we don't post these things people don't know and these tradesmen just keep getting away with it.

I took a car of mine to them as I had a slight knocking noise from under the car, I had a call from them telling me I needed a new steering rack €500 plus labour. I told them I would pick the car up and not to do anything. When I got home I googled the knocking noise and it said could be the drop links.I brought them on ebay cost €20 I fitted them myself took me less than an hour noise cured. Steering checked elsewhere told nothing wrong with it.Never been near the place since.

Go back and ask them for their complaints book which they must have by law.

Once you tell them what you're going to write in it (overcharging and tax evasion) they will change their tune.

Glad you didn't get caught. I was worried about it not passing the ITV, which is where these dodgy rip-off garages get you. If it wasn't for the ITV I would of told them to leave the brake pads for now. As it turned out I don't think they needed changing as they let slip they took my car for ITV before they changed the pads because they had to order them in. Anyway hope you let everyone you know about them as I will. These people should not have a business.

Good idea. I told them I am going to put the word out as much as I can locally. People should know they may get ripped-off.

We would never go near the place ever again
When we had our previous car we needed a tyre changing..on the advice of the mechanic who serviced our car we had to buy a key for the locking nuts..ok it was about 47/50 e as i remember..
We always kept that in the compartment in the front, so after taking the car for the tyre didn't think anything of it...until very shortly afterwards the car was towed to the main dealers
they called to ask where the key was for the tyres? we went down & searched the car but no key..
We rung QQ to ask if they'd found it..he said anything like that was in the drawer..On calling the key thing was nowhere to be seen..They knew it was new as it was in its packaging..
Dishonest comes to mind..would have no dealings with them at all
