Connecting Smart TV to internet

Postby Mollywolly » Tue Jan 18, 2022 6:27 pm

Hi…we have a Smart TV but can’t seem to get it to connect to the internet, via a WIFI router, despite help from our provider. Does anyone know of someone with technical experience that could help us please?

In what way can't you get it to connect to the internet ? i presume in tv settings you have tried to get the tv to connect to your wifi router ? how far is the tv away from your wifi router ? have you tried to connect tv to wifi router with a network cable to bypass the wifi ?

It’s less than three feet away from the router. Have tried the settings etc. Not sure what you mean about a cable to bypass the wifi?

If it’s less than 3 feet away from the router why are you connecting via WiFi?..

You need to connect it direct to the router via an Ethernet cable from back of tv to back if router. You won’t need a password and you’re getting the benefit of the full speed from your router.

Hi Lynn, have tried all that, but when you try to open up one of the apps on the tv, it just says that you are not connected to the internet and doesn’t prompt you for a user code or password. We keep going round in circles with it. Telfy have said that there is no additional security on the router and that the router is open.

What apps are you trying to open ? im presuming that you can connect devices in your house to the internet ? ie mobile phones, tablets, computers ?
Also i presume you have unplugged both tv & router for a few minutes then turned back on.

& you say you have tried connecting the tv directly to the router using a network cable ?
If so it points to an issue with the tv & id be shocked if both the wifi & NIC ( network interface card ) were faulty, but not unknown.
But doing a search on google for your model tv people have had numerous issues with this model tv.
