Decorating Recommendations

Postby Dannyboy » Mon Jan 11, 2016 8:04 pm

Hi Folks,
I’m looking for a bit of guidance/recommendation regarding interior painting of our villa. My son and I are thinking of flying over from UK for a week of emulsion and beer around Easter – He has a little experience of internal decorating with his own house whereas my idea of decorating is to sell the house when it needs doing and move to a new freshly emulsioned property.
I am over for a week in late January and thought it a good idea to get all the paint, brushes and rollers purchased in preparation. I’ve had a look at Leroy Merlin and AKI online and they have all the goods required therefore I’m just looking for recommendations for the best products and brands for:
·One coat plain white emulsion for typical Spanish interior villa walls - slight stucco type finishing (Paredes y Techos Una Capa Blanco) – Would I need an anti mould version?
·Best brands: Bruguer, Titan, Alp, Luxens (LR’s own brand I think)
·Rollers types what’s best for Spanish interior walls: hairy, little bit hairy or spongey (complete novice here)?
·Do the coverage guidance given on paint products generally match up e.g. 1 Litre covers 10 sqm.
I really should be asking for a recommendation for a good painter and decorator – but the chance for my son and I to get off the leash for a week with my wife and daughter-in-law’s blessing is too good to miss – Showing them we are making the effort rather than just turning up half-cut at Quesada Colours on a whim can only be a good thing.
Any help on which products to buy would be very welcome.
Thank you
Danny

What about you and your son popping out with the spouses' permission then commissioning a painter, on the Q T, to undertake the work. House points galore, a professional finish with no effort! By the way, clear the empties.

We employed a Spanish painter - very cheap, very thorough and a far better job than I could have done!

Hi Martin the artist, could you provide contact details of the painter you recommend as we would like 3 rooms painted. We are over mid February. Thanks Scott

Titan make paint is the best for coverage etc. Usually around 50 euro for a very large tub. Similar costing paints at Le Roy Merlin are inferior requiring more coats. Great trade paint supply shop next to Lumsdens Auctions through Beniofar.

Thank you all for your input. I had a quick word with James at Quesada Colors - he was very helpful.

Anyone used Procolor paints as recommended by James from his own stock. If so, were you happy with the finish?

Have since used Procolor Comodin (emulsion) trade paint as recommended by James and very happy with the outcome. Will use this paint and Quesada Colors again.
