Domestic dishwasher repair

Postby Stan West » Thu Jan 07, 2016 11:26 am

My dishwasher is filling up with water after it completes a cycle. As far as I can see there is no blockage in the discharge pipe and the garbage gorger seems clear. Can anyone reccomend a repair man as I have reached the end of my abilities.

We have the same problem in the UK and my husband is pretty good with these kind of things usually. After checking for normal blockages, he has taken the side panel off and cleaned all the filters and drain hoses in the plastic assembly. We even took the assembly off and put a mixture on bicarb and vinegar in it to clean it properly. It is now only leaving water in the bottom intermittently, some times it's clear, other times not. Because I can still get my dishes washed, it hasn't caused too much of a problem but usually scoop out the excess water, if there is any, before the next dish wash cycle.

We are almost the end of my husband's abilities (even with those very helpful Youtube video's) but he very rarely gives up on anything (unless it's urgent and can't wait!) and we asked the local repair supplies shop, while buying a part for our oven yesterday, and he said the only thing left to check is the sump pump hose on the base of the dishwasher, which is going to be checked next time it leaves surplus water. I keep hoping that when it does drain away that the blockage has cleared but will check next cycle before checking the sump hose.

Please let us know if you fix yours (try Youtube videos, if you haven't already - We have fixed multi appliances that way!) or if you get a repair man to do it...would be interested to know what your problem was and how it was fixed.
