Don Aluminio

If you want any building work done I can thoroughly recommend Don Aluminio. They have just replaced one of our concrete front steps and fitted a window to our underbuild. We are really happy with the quality of the work and we are particularly thrilled with the window. They had it made to measure and it lets in so much light and air that it makes a real difference to the room. They cleaned up after themselves each day and what we got for the price was excellent. Well done guys!

Looks very tidy. Was there a window there already which has been replaced?

If it's not too cheeky, could I ask roughly how much that was, as my neighbour has been talking about having a similar job done. Thanks.

No there wasn't any window there before, they knocked the bricks out from both sides and at the widest part there was a 60 cm gap between the inside and outside walls. They've actually fanned the outside walls at an angle so it lets in more light and we didn't ask them to do that. Cost was €480 which includes a made to measure opening window approx 1mtr wide x 25-30cm high. Really excellent job.

Thanks.

A couple of questions...

Did that include obtaining the planning permission, and are you on a community?

My elderly neighbour is on a community and asks if approval needed to be granted.

As far as I know no permissions were needed. When I first asked for quotes it was for several items including balustrades and I asked the price to include any relevant permissions. All that's been done so far is the step and the window and they haven't mentioned needing to obtain permission for either of those.

I'm not sure about community approval as it varies from community to community. If your neighbour's window could be seen from the road, i.e. affects the visual appearance of the house, then it might be worth him asking the president.

Hi all we used Don Aluminio this week for an extension, new upscale windows and doors plus knocking through from lounge to kitchen and the workmanship wàs excellent.

Thorough service from start to finish and the tidiest builders I've ever used.

100% would recommend and I'm happy to please. So much so that I've asked them to quote for additional works.
