flue problem
by IanCollins » Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:06 am
Our pellet burner flue is collecting water in the cap on the bottom and requires emptying each day, I have been told this is condensation due to our location.
I am not convinced since the house next door but one doesnt have the same problem.
Any recommendations? or suggestions?

the flue is outside, not an inside humidity problem.

The cap on the flue isnt very tight, there is a jubilee clip which can be tightened. Do you think this could be the issue?

The flue is outside the house, is it safe to drill a drain hole in the flue cap?
Thank you

Hi Ian,
Do you have the black, single-skin flue outside, or the chrome, insulated flue?
We had our pellet burner fitted last year - Ambience would have fitted it with the single-skin, but we opted for Budget Burners, as they fit the better quality flue. There's still a drainage cap at the bottom, but when I unscrewed it to check, there was no water.
By the way, don't swap it for a log burner - they're filthy things and take much longer to clean and get going than a pellet burner
