I agree with Steve4878, Coles & Sons are excellent. We used them in 2016: Dad, sons and grandsons, what a lovely family. My wife and I tried to help move some boxes, as it was so hot the day we moved in, and the grandson leading the team politely told us that he didn't want us doing what we'd paid them for. No damage or missing items, and they were half the price of the nearest alternative quote we had from Bishops.

My neighbours used Howells to move here in 2017 and a brand new Dyson hoover, still in its sealed box, went missing in transit and a nest of tables left the UK as a set of 3, but arrived in Spain as a set of 2. My neighbour complained, but got nowhere. When she discovered further damages as she unpacked, I asked her if she'd spoken to Howells again and she said she'd leave it because "that woman frightens me". Doesn't sound like a company that I'd want to do business with.

I cannot fault Howells at all. The collection from the UK was as perfect as one could wish for. My goods are still in storage for free , for 3 months. I requested a price from Ann, to move all my belongings from their storage unit to my new address in mid Jan. Ann informed me that there would be no charge, as it was included in the original price of UK to Spain cost. I have no hesitation in recommending Howells to anyone, for me , and I used to have my own removal company in the Uk, they are as perfect as perfect could be.

I forgot to mention that I paid for 8 cubic meter of goods, but when I went to see Ann there was actually 10 cubic metres. There’s was no extra charge from Howells. I collected, over a two day period, the 2 cubic meter, as it would have incurred a fee for storage. Can’t fault them, very professional.

Glad all worked well for you but I find it very strange that the guy didn't know the size of the van he was using! How could you get that so wrong? And not even apology, thats the least a professional company would do.

I used Howells to move over 16 cu metres of household stuff at the end of September 2019 and it is in storage currently (2 months storage free) awaiting delivery to our new home at the end of January. Price was very competive, the loading in the UK was very efficient and the guys were brilliant. I had 6 boxes that I needed as soon as the consignment arrived in Formentera at their depot and they kept those aside for me and I was able to pick them up a few days later.

So far, I´m more than satisfied with their service. If that changes when they deliver my stuff to the new house then I´ll update my comments.

Many thanks for leaving the review. We didn't really have a problem with the service, most things arrived ok, a couple of things broke but you have to expect that with a removal. My biggest problem was that the guy tried to charge my parents for 25 cubic meters when the van didn't even hold that amount. It holds 15 to 16 cubic meters! That put the cost up by anther 1000euros. Thats a huge mistake, if you want to call it that! My advice it to always get a written quote. Something that they should do without hesitation.

Re: Howells & Sons Removals Review So Distressed

Postby julieevans370 » Mon Feb 13, 2023 2:35 pm

Howells picked my mums (she's 85) furniture up nearly three weeks ago from Torrevieja we were quoted by Anne 2,700 (we assumed this was Euros) which was a lot of money when she came to do a site visit. Mum is moving back to England as my Dad passed away in November last year. We did not receive the quote in writing The van was a 35cwt box they filled that and had to go for another van to add three items a small single bed, bathroom cabinet and washing maiden. Holly had written balance to pay 2595 which I had not noticed prior to flying back to England two days later. We paid 1,500 Euros deposit on collection of the furniture as agreed with Anne. The balance to pay in England was £1200. When I calculated the cost I emailed via their website I finally received an email from Anne giving an outline of pricing that was not given during Anne's visit and commented that the quote was a guide only!! appreciate the price may have varied by a couple of hundred but to go from 2,700 to 3,911.25 is an outrage is Anne so bad at calculating cubic metres? I have read the replies in the post and it looks like the same has happened and in each instance it was older people who are vulnerable. Our furniture still hasn't arrived 65 years of memories in the van I have called Anne several times last time was today at 11:04 she told me that she'd call her daughter in Spain and come back to me. It's 1:33 pm no call yet. We are so distressed all replies offering advice will be gratefully received.
