Insurance4carhire

I know I have mentioned them before in the past but thought it worth putting them on this Recommended Tradesmen and Companies section of the forum:
We have been using insurance4carhire now for a number of years and have always felt reassured that any damage that may happen to the car and the excess, that is not covered by the car-hire company, could be claimed from insurance4carhire. They also cover the loss of car keys which is also reassuring and can be pretty expensive when not covered.
It's not always easy to see what is and what isn't covered when hiring a car as they are all different. Most have an excess which can be anything around 600 euros and is usually only in the 'small print'. Also the tyres, windows, undercarriage & roof are mostly always not included in the normal hire car insurance but can be taken out as an extra cost at point of hire. With insurance4carhire all this is covered in their European yearly one-off insurance which costs £39.99 a year (as of August 2013) and can cover multiple hires up to 60 days each time.
The only proviso is that you are advised to make sure that CDW is included in the hire car price or, if not which is often the case, pay the small daily premium for this cover with the hire car company.
It's amazing what they don't tell you when hiring a car, unless you ask, and it's not until something happens that you realise that the insurance that comes with the car can be quite seriously lacking, which happened to us many years back with some internal damage that we had not noticed until the next day.
There may be other companies that offer this insurance but we've always used http://www.insurance4carhire.com and recommend them for ease of buying on-line each year.
