Patio wanted

Postby garyizme » Wed Aug 15, 2018 1:34 pm

We have a long term holiday rental in Lo Crispin. The garden is flat and chipped and we wanted a 3m x 3m patio. Any suggestions the cheapest way to do this? Is it concrete and tiling or a more temporary structure with wooden deck effect tiles. The agent seems to think we would need permission for a permanent structure?

Many thanks

HI GARY, IF YOU ARE THE TENANTS I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT YOUR FIRST PORT OF CALL IS TO GET PERMISSION FROM THE OWNER. ANYTHING PERMANENT WOULD NEED PLANNING PERMISSION FROM THE AUTHORITIES AS AN EXTRA.

Thanks Joe,

What about a temporary thing like the Leroy merlin wood slabs that look like decking?

I STILL THINK YOU NEED TO GET PERMISSION FROM THE OWNERS.

Do you mean this type of thing, http://www.leroymerlin.es/fp/14657174/b ... cha=010502 ?

I would think that would be ok as long as it isnt fixed down and you either take it with you or get rid of it before the end of the tenancy.

.

Exactly that. I think that can easily be reverted to the original gravel easily enough but just have to find a way if making it level?? That way we can remove when we buy again.

Laying these direct onto gravel won’t work, the wooden squares won’t sit level, they’ll be wobbly to walk on and you’ll trip on the edges.
You’ll need to lay wooden battens on/in the gravel then screw the wooden squares to the battens.

I’d still run the idea past the owner, I wouldn’t be very impressed if I had tenants that made changes like this without asking first.

If its the gravel you don't like , rake it flat /smooth as you can , then throw some atifical grass of good thick quality over it ,then roll it up when you leave,
