Post from abroad

Postby titch67 » Wed Dec 11, 2019 7:50 pm

Hi this may have been covered before but I’m only in Quesada a week or two. I have been sent mail from the UK and Ireland but have not received anything nor do I see post boxes on properties here. I’ve been told I probably need to rent a post box/ box in Benijofar or Rojales. Can someone give me some advice please on what I need to do in order to receive mail.

If you've been sent mail from the UK, what address was given if there are no post boxes on properties around you?
If you are on a community, there will probably be a central post set of pigeon holes and you should ensure the number of your property is clearly marked. For example:
Calle Fortuna 53
Residencial Marakesh 43
03170 Rojales
Alicante
(That's a made up address but the first line is the number of the street and the second the property on the community).

Properties not on a community should have their own postboxes, usually on the wall outside the property.

Posties will, generally, not deliver inside a community due to time constraints or, in many cases, because of a locked entrance gate. Others have a bell which alerts one person to collect all the post for the community.

If you've had mail sent from abroad there must have been an address to send it to.

We've always had our mail delivered but, due to extra building, many addresses have been changed which is why people rent out boxes at either Correos or a convenience box at one of the post rooms around.
We used to have the entrance gate on one street which was changed when the community was completed. We still get water bills addressed to the old street but, because we put the residency name and number down, we get them in our new street post box.

Thank you for your reply. I have two numbers 20 and 38 (The latter being the door number).
These were the numbers given as the address of the property and the one I used to give to family etc. it didn’t occur to me to look for the post box until I was asked if I received any mail.
Initially I was told post boxes we’re usually beside a communal pool but when I looked there wasn’t any.
The previous owners told the estate agent they rented a post box in Benijofar hence my post

You could try taking your passport to show to both Quesada Correos (post office) & Rojales one.

titch there should be a bank of boxes somewhere nearby can you ask El Presidente or even a neighbour?

you won't be able to receive much volume wise they are not large and the gap on ours to put letters/pamphlets in is very small

I understand your concern when I went for a tour of my place I asked the owners where the post box was and they looked at me as if I had asked them where they kept their jewellery

Thank you, I did ask el presidente and it was he who told me I had to rent a box in Correo in Rojales close to Rio Segura and the previous occupants said Benijofar and I’m wondering why not Quesada (more or less beside CaixaBank). From what I can see there are not too many neighbours nearby and I thought that maybe I’d found something but I think they might be meter boxes. Frustrating or what
