SCISSOR SHARPENING SERVICE

Postby hoppy1 » Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:42 am

Hi Scissors are sharpened differently to knives. I was told in the UK its a very specific art. Does anyone know of anywhere that specialises in sharpening scissors.

Scissors are sharpened flat across the blade. You can make them a bit sharper by "chewing" them across the neck of a bottle as if you are trying to cut the head off...

Be careful though... the glass may break..

If you have a sharpening steel just do the same, .. it sounds scary but working the scissors blades across the steel will sharpen them...but make sure the angle if flat across the steel...

Failing that, there is a van that runs around the area sharpening knives and scissors.. they play a tune on pan pipes to let you know they are around..
