Tilt & Turn Aluminium Windows - refurb specialist

Postby hamish258 » Sat Feb 08, 2020 11:37 pm

Hi folks,

Our house has a great set of aluminium tilt and turn windows and patio doors, we've been in 5 years, not sure how old they are. The double glazed panels are good but the windows themselves could do with some adjustment as they're not all moving easily. Also some of the plastic ends have become brittle and need replacing.

I had someone out but they couldn't help, as they mostly specialised in the sliding aluminium doors / glass curtains. The challenge is I can't find anything that says who the manufacturer is, only that the hinges are by fapim, an Italian specialist in hinges for tilt and turn windows.

Looking for advice / recommendations for someone who could help here, short of replacing the lot. I'm sure if we could find the supplier we could get the needed spares.

Thanks
Alan

Hi Alan

I deal with Fapim back home via my business .
If you send pictures I’ll happily forward them on to them and see if they’re still available .

Hi Simon

Thank you, all help gratefully received! The hinges themselves seem ok, but you never know when you’re going to need spares. My sister did unfortunately break one but luckily the previous owner left a bag with fapim bits and pieces, with enough for me to get it back together and working. I’ll be sure to get you some photos when I get back (away for a couple of weeks).

It’s the window frames that have what look like plastic inserts on the end of them, and it’s these that could do with replacing, a couple have crumbled and the remainder are brittle. Am hoping somehow to trace whose they are so we can approach them for spares.

Cheers
Alan
