Want to get back to Sky T.v.system
by scotfree » Tue Nov 06, 2018 3:30 pm
I have come to Quesada to a new home, left behind my big satellite dish which let me access Sky & all the channels.I do know a TV man who used to work in UK for Sky installations who relocated to Spain & set up his business many years ago near me & installed & looked after my TV problems for many years. He does come down to this area but I think it would be sensible to have some other reliable source who can set me up again.Any recommendations?

That’s correct, some people intercept the feeds and then it’s re-sold, apparently at a reduced cost because “greedy Sky” are “ripping people off”.
Some would have you believe that they’re doing the public a service by offering TV on the cheap. A sort of Robin Hood cum Lookie Lookie man operation, where Robin Hood makes a couple of Bob out of helping the poor.

'Greedy Sky', as you call them, are not allowed to sell their satellite TV systems in Spain. If they find out that someone is using their Sky box and card in Spain or other EU countries they will terminate your contract. What that company was doing was receiving all channels from the satellite including channels which should be paid for and transmitting them locally. They were an illegal company and were not paying any IVA and according to the report, also money laundering. Telmicro were closed down about 10 years ago for the same reasons. A lot of us were left without any TV channels and had to make new arrangements.

I was not involved with any company & a contract.Paid upfront, large sum,for my large dish,a one off payment. There are literally thousands of people all over Spain who have done the same.Had mine for some 18 years before I decided to move.Thought I might have a dish installed on the property I am buying since there are loads more Brits.here but I just happen to be buying from a different national so regret not having my previous one dismantled & kept as it would have been simple. However have arranged to pay once again to get back to what I had.I am aware that sometimes the further south you are then sometimes it is difficult to get some channels. In Gibraltar there is less access than we have in Spain.
