Padron and Covid restrictions
Padron and Covid restrictions
by phild » Wed Aug 19, 2020 4:20 pm
Hi all,
hoping to sign the Padron next week for the first time when get over there, but unsure what the proces is given the situation we are in.
We own a house in Quesada, so what do we need to take with us, passport, NIE, copia simple of the escritura and marriage certificate?
Cheers
phil

Not sure you need your marriage certificate.
Take a recent utility bill along with you. I took my copia simple but they didn't ask for it but take it anyway.
You can phone for an appointment first but some have said they just turn up and were told they should have had an appointment but were sent to the desk as it was very quiet. To be safe, give them a ring and they'll give you a time to come along.
You should only sign on the padron if you already have residency or if you are using it to apply for residency. Rojales, however, still allows non residents to sign the padron and are still challenging the regional government on their interpretation of main home saying this is your main home in Spain. Still, that's been going on for years.

We were advised to sign the pardon before we went for residency by Torrevieja translators.

You need a padron certificate to apply for residency. One of the requirements.

Doesn't say that in the official government English FAQ.
Site won't let me attach a pdf (since when?) so you'll have to take my word for it that the word 'padron' is not even in it.
Here ya go.

And when you apply for a TIE using the EX23 to change your document or the EX20 to apply for new residency under the instructions on what to bring with you it says:
CertificadooVolante de empadronamientoactual en caso de que haya cambiado de domicilio, (expedido en los tres últimos meses).Original y copia
Which is an empadronamiento certificate in case you have changed address (from that on the green card) which must be in date within 3 months.
And, for the EX20
Certificado o Volante de empadronamiento actual (expedido en los tres últimos meses). Original y copia
Or certificate of empadronamiento to be in date in the last 3 months.
Your link and guide (and a very good one it is) says to make the appointment online and to follow the instructions. If the instructions say you need a padron then that is what I would take.
Plus, my solicitors emailed me the same requirements if I wanted to apply, that is with a padron in date by 3 months if I had changed address.
