Red SIP card

Postby eaglet » Sun Dec 12, 2021 12:57 pm

Hi,
I hope to be helping a friend change their old SIP for the 'new' Red SIP! Am I correct in saying you can get the Red SIP card just by attending Rojales Med. Ctr. and if I am correct what documentation will they require, TIA ??
Cheers AL

So do you know why some are only covered for Valenciana area and others further afield? My parents have red ones and it does say System national de salud de Espana where ours say Generalitat Valenciana. May join the queue to get a red one!! Unless they've changed it that when you present it further afield it's accepted?

I believe some of the old sip cards (the green) ones are being changed to red because some of the bar codes on them can’t be read on the swipe machines in chemists but you will be notified if you need to change them.
As for the coverage I believe the red ones do cover all of Spain but so do the old cards.
Hope this some help

Many of us have recently had texts telling us to go and exchange them because otherwise the magnetic stripes will no longer work.

Our old SIP was changed to RED about 4-5 years ago, can’t remember why.
