Thanks scubydoo, but that doesn't seem to be enough anymore. I presented my padron, recidencia, S1 form, utility bill, old Sip card and still
got the old heave-ho. :?

Hi Marcliff you are very very knowledgable and helpful, particularly about healthcare. Our circumstances are as follows

1. We are both residents full time in Spain since June 2014

2. Our sip cards expire in January 2016 as does our uk EHIC cards.
3. My civil partner is diabetic and insulin dependent, along with the other required Meds
4. Our only option is to apply for the "Convenio Especiale" under which we will pay 60 euros per month each. This gives us full medical cover and with existing medical conditions.
5. Under this scheme (in Valencia) we will pay 100% of medicines. Insulin and the other required Meds will cost us 250 euros per month as opposed to paying only 12 euros currently. Although we pay 50% of our other medicines, insulin is considerably reduced.

I have read numerous items on goodness knows how many websites, sometimes too much to comprehend, including diabetes being considered a "chronic illness" in the Spanish health system and as such we thought that insulin and the related Meds for diabetes would be subsidised, this appears not to be the case.

If anyone can advise us otherwise, we would be most grateful.

Remember, as mentioned above, we can no longer get a temporary sip card as our EHIC card also expires.

We live in Los Balcones so we cannot go to the helpful lady in Rojales

:) hello we bought a property in quesada in 1994 and registered in 1997 at elche, there getting an nie card etc. we sold the house in 2002 and moved off down south etc.I also worked all the time while i was here and also was resident. we moved back to uk in 2007 and have been here ever since. due to our spanish bank now telling us that all the rules have changed that i should have deregistered which is something i knew nothing about, do we de register where we had the property registered (elche) or where we last lived which was torre pacheco murcia. this is very mind blowing and would appreciate some help if you can.
cheers
