Be vigilant

Just been told a friend of mine who lives near the windmill ,was robbed a few days ago his front gate was not locked silly boy,he and his partner were sunbathing around there pool just out of sight of the steps leading up to there house,my friend went to the house to get something and must have disturbed them no sign of anyone but a lot of his partners jewellrey was strewn about outside, he was lucky because they seemed to bypass passports, 500 euros in cash, on a wardrobe in the sitting room .no sign of anyone when he rushed out into the street.so please lock all doors regardless of how near you are to your house.

We were broken into when we first bought on 2007. The police came to the house but did not give us an incident number. We were told to go to the Almoradi police station to make a report and take an interpreter. At that point we were given an incident number for our insurance. We had no problem with insurance payout. My initial reaction was to sell up, we felt violated. What we did though was to get a good security system. We're still here but just more vigilant. It is unnerving and heartbreaking that someone can do this to you. Don't let it cloud your judgement though. If you like what you have and are happy apart from that incident then try to put it behind you. It will take time but stick with it.
