Bike thefts - Store your bikes securely!

Postby Jan » Thu Oct 31, 2013 1:38 pm

I was sent the email below this morning to pass on to our members and guests - We have regularly seen unsecured bikes left in front gardens and would be surprised if this doesn't happen more often. A locked gate on is own may not be enough to stop thefts. However, a bike that is secured, out of sight of passers by, to an immovable object by a bicycle lock could help, if there is no other safer place to put the bike(s) :

Dear neighbors
I would like to inform you of what happened last night in Doña Pepa .
About 10pm I left my house to walk my dog " Amex " when only about 20 meters from me I saw two guys taking two bicycles from my friends front garden. I screamed at them and tried to catch them but I could not do it. Then I phoned 112 and I got in touch with the Local Police . In just five minutes two police cars come with 4 policeman. I informed them of what happened and I told them that there were two guys around 18 years , very thin with Moorish features . I told them they were gone in the Hotel La Laguna direccon very fast and both cars went after him. The cops told me that lately there are many bike thefts in the area.
After what happened last night I want to recommend you to do not let bicycles in your gardens and if you see something strange , please urgently contact the local police by calling 112.
After what happened yesterday , I want to say that the police were very quick and efficient and I would like to thank them for their help and advise last night.

attentively

Francisco Lidon
