Burglary down by Golf course

Burglary down by Golf course

Postby Smithk2 » Mon Sep 29, 2014 10:27 am

Hi everyone - just a reminder to be extra vigilant. We were burgled again on Friday evening. Some friends were staying in our house and they were out for less than 2 hours. It's bad enough that they took phones, money, ipad and other stuff but the damage they did trying to get was worse. This is the second time we have been burgled and had at least 2 previous other attempts when they didn't manage to get in. We will be over again at the weekend to sort it out. Are burglaries on the increase out there or are we just unlucky? :(

Hi there will always be things happening like this unfortunately and it's horrible when it happens to you. I think you have just been plain unlucky, hope you get everything sorted out.

Hi smithk2,
I agree with Ada. Unfortunately. you have been very unlucky. I haven't heard of any significant increase in burglaries in Quesada recently. it's just seems a sad fact of life wherever we live and as you say a reminder for people to be extra vigilant and for home-owners to up-grade security if need be.

So sorry to hear this.

Thanks everyone. We had replaced all of our grills except for a new one on an extension that was recently completed - that was the one they managed to get through. I know it happens everywhere but it really takes the shine off what should be something lovely. It also makes me nervous about being there alone if my husband nips out in the car. They obviously watch for when the car goes out. Such a shame as we have owned in Quesada since 1999 and have never had a problem with our other house. We use this house more often and have had nothing but problems.

Friend of mine was burgled last week down in Malaga.

A builders type van pulled up at the property, 2 guys wearing overalls and work boots knocked on the front door probably knowing nobody was home.

They then took a sledge hammer to the window surround hitting it 4 times adjacent to where the grill was cemented into the window surround. Using a crow bar they then pried the grill out from the window surround and entered the house through the open window.

The neighbor watched the whole thing thinking at first they were builders coming to do a job!

I,ll try and get a picture.

I don't see much CCTV on houses around Quesada, are their any community rules which don't allow its use?

Another burglary in Quesada

Postby benji » Thu Jun 18, 2015 2:22 pm

Hi everyone

For those of you who are not aware one of the owners on our community Altos Del Golf II in Quesada had a break in on Tuesday night between the hours of 2am & 4am. The owners were asleep upstairs. The husband got up at 4am to go to the bathroom, he saw the light on downstairs and thought his wife was down there, he must have disturbed the thieves. He went down to shut the door and found the lock had been wrenched out, they had ransacked the cupboards in the kitchen. The owner was returning to the UK today (Thursday) and was going to pay some money into his bank account to cover any costs while they were in the UK. The thieves took all the cash, unfortunately the insurance company will only reimburse you for €300. They had left the IPad and thankfully passports, but cheeky devils had taken a bottle of wine, but left a bottle of beer on the middle of the lounge floor. They also took his camera and jewellery. As always this is a reminder to be vigilant.

Sorry to hear this but it's also a reminder to take valuables like cash / keys /handbags / wallets /phones / Ipads and other things upstairs with you at night. It may seem a bother but it just becomes a habit to pick up valuables before going to bed. It may seem unfair but it is quite normal for insurance companies to have a cash limit payout of about 300 as well, even holiday insurance companies.
