Guardia Civil?? Possible scam - Beware!

Guardia Civil?? Possible scam - Beware!

Postby maisiesdad » Sat Jun 06, 2015 9:12 am

Yesterday my wife on returning to the car in Lidl car park was spoken to by two men in their 30s. They were in an unmarked Merc parked next to her and one of them kept producing a card saying Guardia Civil. They never got out of the car.

They wanted to know if we were tourists or permanent residents and asked to see her passport. She told them we were French residents with a French registered car but had a holiday home here. She refused to let them see her passport as she was not convinced they were what they said and she got into the car and drove away.
The Merc registration was AR 488-- and my wife did not think it was a Spanish registration. Any views?

All very interesting in posting this to the forum, but immediate reaction should be, if you're in doubt or confused, going to local police to inform.
This is the only way to make the area secure.
Can't imagine GC to go on supermarket parking. There is plenty of space on the roads to stop cars and investigate about their occupants and what their business is over here, as they already do.
Conclusion: it's definitely a scam!

If you are on facebook, look up the N332 site. Very very informative. Written in english by the Guardia Civil giving a lot of information and also answering loads of questions. Well worth looking at.
