That's a piece of bad news especially as we've just signed up for a property up by the golf course.

Is there much crime around Quesada?

Very sorry to hear this - Were you in Spain at the time?

Fortunately actual break-in burglaries (as above) are not frequent but there has always been opportunist crime, as with anywhere in Europe including the UK , and it helps for us all to have good security and to be aware of certain risk factors.

In the UK we would never leave our front door open but in Spain, with the warmer weather, some people leave front doors and grilles open (and back doors) when they are upstairs or out of sight of the doors. In Spain they have grilles and grille doors so that windows and doors can be left open for coolness and the grilles can be locked for security. It also helps to keep the property gates locked at all times too.

There are some other security tips on this link: safety-security-information-and-property-in-spain-hints-and-tips-f78/moving-into-your-new-property-security-tips-t1399.html

Good advice. Be as aware, or more, than you would be in the UK?
