Muggers near the golf course

Muggers near the golf course

Postby Drama Queen » Sun Feb 21, 2016 12:58 pm

There are muggers in the area and a woman was attacked near our house in Sierra de Greidos near the golf club. Other neighbours had someone knock at the door saying he had been robbed and asking for money yesterday. They are possibly Moroccan, and drive a right hand drive, black BMW. So don't walk alone or take valuables out with you and lock the car when you get in.

Thanks for the warning Drama Queen and for the advice scubydoo.

I hope the police are on the lookout for those muggers but it's always wise to stay aware and be extra careful wherever we go.

Sounds like same people round here, big man, black car. Stopped a friend of mine, asked where nearest hotel was, asked if they took pesetas. Then asked what euros look like as he had never seen any. Probably expected my pal to show him .Then grab it and drive away

I think it was posted that we had hardly ever heard of any 'street' crime in Quesada. This mugging seems unusual for the area IMO and I don't think anyone could disagree on that, but pickpocket / handbag theft is not unusual for anywhere and has often been talked about on the forum. We all need to be aware of being careful with our belongings when out and about anywhere and everywhere in the world.

I'd agree that you need to simply be aware, like you do anywhere in the world. Petty crime is everywhere and there's always some chancer wherever you live.
I certainly wouldn't however say that you can't walk around alone, that's an over reaction to what is a very rare and hopefully isolated event.

I got this email from the Neighbourhood watch last week.
Another suspicious incident in the area of Calle Leon, Ciudad Quesada. A young girl approached a resident in the street and asked the time. He didn't have a watch on so pointed to a clock on a nearby wall. She was exceedingly friendly(touchy, feely) in her thanks and fondled him - looking for valuables to take! A white audi occupied by two dark, swarthy men came up and also asked the time. He told them they should have a clock in their car!!. The girl got in and they drove off. Nothing was taken but their intent was obvious. The men were in their mid 20s, one had a moustache. The man did not report it to the `police but if you see anything similar, do please dial 112 and report the incident. The sooner these nuisances are caught, the better. Please warn your friends and neighbours.

problem is if the incident doesn't get reported to the police then how are the police going to be aware and start patroling and arresting these mugs.
