Robberies in Quesada

It's no worse than the UK. In fact, there's probably less crime here.
I think that, in the vacuum of real news, ex-pat gossip appears to make it seem worse.
Oh and it was Shaw Taylor

I may be being a bit dense but I cant find any topic on the forum which lists emergency contact numbers. I think 112 is our 999 and I presume they ask whether it is fire, ambulance or police you want?? I dont have a clue how to contact the Guardia though. Heaven forbid if we were in an accident, fire or burglary.
Jan, I wondered if it was worth having a sticky on the home page with useful numbers for newbies like me. It could include emergency doctors, dentists etc.
I am in the same situation, newbie needing advice
Soon I will be moving to Quesada/Rojales area, if I can be of any assistance, Spanish is my first language.

My husband was robbed in Mercadona, Rojales, this morning. He helped a middle aged Spanish looking man get some drink cans down from a top shelf. He must have unzipped his man bag and took the wallet out. First we knew about it was when we were home and Police informed us they had the wallet with all the contents, except some euro notes and we were to collect it from the Police Station. We were lucky they only took the cash!

Despite all the warnings of helping people get something down from a shelf it still happens.
The preferred modus operandi for these scum. Saw someone in Consum a while back help someone get something down from the top shelf. Wallet gone (fortunately the thief had taken the money and threw the wallet away leaving driving license, residency card, credit cards etc).
Be vigilant. They are clever and rely on people being helpful.

Don't worry, if you belonged to a forum of the area you live in the UK you'd probably be reading the same kind of things about crime, it's not much different here to anywhere else. Yes we do get crime but normally it's petty, make sure you have all the precauations you can possibly take and fingers crossed.
