SCAMMERS DOING THE ROUNDS

SCAMMERS DOING THE ROUNDS

Postby manxmunk » Fri Sep 23, 2016 3:27 pm

Hi guys just a warning to be alert, have just read on a La Marina facebook page, a woman who received a phone call from "Her Bank", stating that they had just found her bank card outside Iceland. Upon checking, she found that her card was still in her purse, but not before parting with her card number first. Please be aware that no bank will ask you for your account details in these kind of situations, they will normally ask you for ID by a series of security questions, so do not be fooled into giving your details out over the phone. IF IN ANY DOUBT, ask for the callers name and telephone number and tell them you will ring them back, then contact your branch and confirm their ID. Luckily this woman contacted her branch who have put a block on any transactions going through, and will probably have to change her account details. BE SAFE NOT SORRY.

Unfortunately some people do...that's why they continue to try!

No matter how many warnings about not giving details over the phone or not clicking on fake emails from banks who say they never ask for personal details by email...someone always will!

Unfortunately these scammers are so convincing, and if the person they target are of the older generation they probably accept that the caller is genuine. Thankfully it seems this woman had a lucky escape, but it is always worthwhile reminding all the users of this site to be aware at all times
