Securitas Direct Query.

Securitas Direct Query.

Postby Expat in Quesada » Tue Apr 18, 2023 12:16 pm

Hi all,

I am having no luck with an email reply from Securitas Direct and have tried calling twice today to get some general info and got no answer. We have just moved into our new house. The previous owner said he was paying Securitas about €40 a month for monitoring. He was only here a few weeks a year so needed the service. We will be here full time so are not sure if we need the monitoring or not. The previous owner said he paid quite a bit of money for the sensors, cameras etc and confirmed he owned them and they were not part of a package that is removed if you stop the service. The cabling for the sensors etc are all in the walls.

As this company is new to me and I have been unable to contact them so far, I am wondering what the general operation of this system is? If I do not renew his monthly monitoring, does the alarm still work? ie. Does it come with a bell that sounds if the alarm is activated or is this a type of service silent and only activates in the Securitas offices?

I realise I have not provided enough info to get a specific detailed answer but I am only looking for the general operation of this company?

Many thanks.

John.

No. 1 it will all be in the previous owners name so really it's up to them to cancel, it'll be coming out of their bank account. Contact them via Facebook and ask them to call you if you want to continue the service. Ivey always had results that way

Securitas is the worst company I have dealt with. We gave them the correct notice period when we were selling our house last year and they are still sending me emails looking for payment. Our lawyer has been dealing with it.

They’re actually the criminals. Don’t do it. Honestly, I finally managed to ditch them and bought Eufy Security sensors and cameras, which are way better and do not have a monthly fee. Really simple to install too.

I have had Securitas for 12 years and always found them excellent. When I moved house they arranged for the new owners to take over and fit a new system in the new house. When at the last minute the new owners decided they did not want the alarm Securitas dealt with it without problem. When we were away and had a break in again they dealt with it promptly and kept me informed all the time. The system is checked regularly and batteries change without additional charge. This is Spain so customer service is always a little laid back but I have no complaints.

I've always found them most helpful when I've had a query or a problem and it's been dealt with, once I had to wait a couple of days for an engineer to change one of the cameras but on the whole very happy. They always end with "Is there anything else we can help you with?"

Many thanks to all for your replies. I will try to contact them again and see if I can ascertain if the existing equipment is useless without their monthly service or if it will still function as a local alarm.

Best wishes.

Like many here - I found cancelling is a nightmare - three months since I sold the property - they send me form one dept to another, asking for NIE detail, My ID (I'm non resident so cant give them that) they have my passport, NIE and Driving licence - and multiple emails asking to cancel when I sold my house in early April, now they are saying I cant cancel till end July!! 4 months charging me EUR44 a month. Its a real scam - you can get effective systems for a fraction of the cost and no monthly charges. Don't touch them shocking

Dreadful company to deal with. Only interested if they think you are going to spend more money with them. It took us nearly two months to cancel our contract (should have been one month) because of their delaying tactics. In the end we sent them notification through the post office which is the equivalent of registered post in the UK. We cancelled because we were broken into and they did nothing.
