SECURITAS DIRECT (VERISURE) ALARM CHARGES

SECURITAS DIRECT (VERISURE) ALARM CHARGES

Postby DAVEW » Mon Mar 07, 2016 9:50 am

Hi we are with Securitas because there are quite a few break ins round here.

5 years ago their fee for 2 movement sensors and 1 door sensor plus remote link to their centre was €30.

They increase their fees every year withoutfail, and have just put them up from €40 to €45 i.e. 11% increase.

Can other users please advise me what they pay as I am now thinking of cancelling.

Thanks.

Yes I have noted the increase over the years, it was 26€ 10 years ago, now more like 50€.
I was peeved about 3 months ago when the system developed a fault and was not working, I reported the fault and the earliest they could attend was over a week later.
This got me thinking, if I can go without surveillance for 1 week, why not 52 weeks?
I do intend stopping the service.

We have just had this company round for a quote to install an alarm system and they quoted their monthly fee as 41 euros a month. Does this depend on what equipment you have?

Just trying to decide whether to get a system with a monthly contract payment or one without.

I too think that the montly charges some companies make are far too high, so thinking i may recoup some of the cost i asked my insurance broker if having an alarm would lead to lower cost insurance. The local broker then said that if i informed the insurance company i had an Alarm & they used that information to set my charges, Then if i forgot to set my Alarm & went out then i would not be covered if broken in to!
Personaly i would rather spend my money on having metal security doors fitted by a reputable company, the old wooden doors are rubbish you can literaly walk through them on old Quesada.
But don't do as i did, lock myself out, it took hours for two chaps with power tools to get me back in.

The monthly cost depends on how many sensors you have installed..

Metal Security Doors are no good when the Robbers pull out the Grills on the Windows then smash the glass if there aren't shutters. Always put shutters down when out and lock. If they don't lock put a peg on the bottom so they can't be pushed up.
A good Alarm is a deterrent and if you put in a wrong code or press the wrong button they telephone you very quickly to make sure you're okay and ask for a password. Well worth the money for peace of mind.
